Taking a biblical look at the sin of homosexuality

How is it that if you call yourself a Christian and you say that you believe that the bible is the inerrant Word of God, which it is ( 2 Timothy 3:16- All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness ) how can you support the sin of homosexuality? There is absolutely no where in scripture where you will find support for the sin of homosexuality. Quite on the contrary you will find that God hates the sin of homosexuality along with all other sin but I'm addressing this particular sin because it's flooding our culture and so many so called Christians support it. God tells us plain and simple in (Leviticus 18:22 You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination.). There is no need for an interpreter, it means just what it says. Now let's take a look at how Gods anger burns against homosexuality. Take a look at (Genesis 13:13 Now the men of Sodom were wicked, great sinners against the Lord.). What kind of wicked sin was this (Genesis 19:1-11 The two angels came to Sodom in the evening, and Lot was sitting in the gate of Sodom. When Lot saw them, he rose to meet them and bowed himself with his face to the earth and said, “My lords, please turn aside to your servant's house and spend the night and wash your feet. Then you may rise up early and go on your way.” They said, “No; we will spend the night in the town square.” But he pressed them strongly; so they turned aside to him and entered his house. And he made them a feast and baked unleavened bread, and they ate.
 But before they lay down, the men of the city, the men of Sodom, both young and old, all the people to the last man, surrounded the house. And they called to Lot, “Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us, that we may know them.” Lot went out to the men at the entrance, shut the door after him, and said, “I beg you, my brothers, do not act so wickedly. Behold, I have two daughters who have not known any man. Let me bring them out to you, and do to them as you please. Only do nothing to these men, for they have come under the shelter of my roof.” But they said, “Stand back!” And they said, “This fellow came to sojourn, and he has become the judge! Now we will deal worse with you than with them.” Then they pressed hard against the man Lot, and drew near to break the door down. But the men reached out their hands and brought Lot into the house with them and shut the door. And they struck with blindness the men who were at the entrance of the house, both small and great, so that they wore themselves out groping for the door.). These verses show us that the City's of Sodom and Gomorrah were filled with homosexual sin and Gods wrath was poured out upon them and they were destroyed. (Genesis 19:24-25 Then the Lord rained on Sodom and Gomorrah sulfur and fire from the Lord out of heaven. And he overthrew those cities, and all the valley, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and what grew on the ground.). Now in Romans chapter 1 Paul warns us of a time that was coming and is now officially here (Romans 1:24-32 Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves, because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen.

 And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done. They were filled with all manner of unrighteousness, evil, covetousness, malice. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, maliciousness. They are gossips, slanderers, haters of God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, foolish, faithless, heartless, ruthless. Though they know God's righteous decree that those who practice such things deserve to die, they not only do them but give approval to those who practice them.).
God has begun to give people up to a reprobate mind because people have turned their backs to God. When people turn their backs on God, the sin begins to snowball until you are completely blinded by your personal sin. We as Christians must stand up for what God has created to be natural. One man and one woman is what God created for the perfect design. There is nothing natural about the same sex entering into marriage or a physical relationship with one another. There is nothing wrong with loving the same sex we are called to love everyone, but when that love turns into a perverse relationship, that's when the alarms should sound. We must deign ourselves and our sin and give it over to Jesus. Jesus is the answer to everything, recognize your sin and turn it over to Jesus. Ask Jesus into your heart and make him Lord of your life. Stand for what is Christ like not worldly. I encourage you to read your bibles and do a personal study on this issue and see what Jesus will show you.

Why people deny the existence of Jesus

The reason why people deny the existence of Jesus is quite simple. These people are in love with their sin. So if someone says I don't believe in God/Jesus that means they are wrapped up in their self and their sin. See if you remove the existence of Jesus you remove the conviction of His word about sin. People who say there is no such thing as sin, and to just live your life to the best of your ability are wrong. On this earth we all have laws that we have to obey, if we don't there are consequences for breaking those laws. The same goes for Gods laws, if you break them there are consequences for breaking them. If I said that murder is not a crime you would call me crazy right? Being ignorant of Gods laws do not make them any less true. Everyone has Gods laws implanted it their hearts. (Romans 2:14-15 For when Gentiles, who do not have the law, by nature do what the law requires, they are a law to themselves, even though they do not have the law. They show that the work of the law is written on their hearts, while their conscience also bears witness, and their conflicting thoughts accuse or even excuse them.)

Now to discuss the lie called evolution. Evolution is a scientific theory. Here is the definition of scientific theory taken from www.thefreedictionary.com/scientific+theory

Now what is the definition of theory taken from www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/theory Theory-an idea or set of ideas that is intended to explain facts or events.

All evolution is, is someone's idea that holds NO scientific facts at all! It is a lie someone's made up fantasy! Here is the definition of scientific fact taken from www.thefreedictionary.com/scientific+fact :an observation that has been confirmed repeatedly and is accepted as true (although its truth is never final).

In evolution there has never been any observable evidence of one kind evolving into another kind. Example a T-Rex evolving into a bird (which evolutionist's believe). Even at the end of Charles Darwin's life he said that "Not one change of species into another is on record... we cannot prove that a single species has been changed."

How did man come up with this lie called evolution and why do so many people buy into it? Thats an easy one SIN! People reject the truth of God for the love of their sin. (Romans 1:18-25 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Claiming to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things. Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves, because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen.)

Now if that does not sound like our modern day world then I don't know what does. People become so entangled in their sin that they become futile in their thinking which produces things such as evolution. Charles Darwin is the creator of the evolution lie and through his sinful creation he has mislead thousands of people. All this can be avoided if we would just recognize that we are sinners and turn from our sin and turn to Jesus. (Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.) This means we all sin and because of our sin we deserve hell, but there is good news! God sent his Son Jesus to this world to pay for our sin debt on the cross and three days later rose again defeating sin completely! (1 Corinthians 15:3-4 For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received:that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, 4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures.) Why would God send His only Son to die for our sins? God loves us (John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.) 

A nation abandoned by God

Over the next five days I am going to give you five reasons why our nation has been abandoned by God. Every day I hear people talking about the economy or how our country has just fallen apart but they just can’t understand why things are the way they are. As a country we have turned our back on God, taken Him out of everything and in turn He has abandoned us.  In the book of Romans, Paul gives us five reasons why God is so angry at men. The first reason is revelation and can be found in Romans 1:18-20 ^“For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse" Here is the break down, verse 18 at the end it says that men hold the truth, how do men hold the truth you might ask verse 19 says God has manifested it to them, how was it manifested to them take a look at verse 20 through the creation of the world. Every man knows God but revelation is where it all begins where men start there pull away from God. Tomorrow I will give the second reason of why we are a nation abandoned by God.

So yesterday we learned that all men hold the truth of God and know that He exists through the creation of the world, but what men do with the truth God has given them is the key. To see what most men do with the truth that they have been given all we need to do is read Romans 1:21 “Because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened."  WOW!!! The first step was all men have the truth of God and now the second step says men reject the truth of God. That is strong stuff there. So what will you do with the truth that you have been given? Will you shout it from the mountain tops or will you be shy and hardly utter a word. I don’t know about you but I give all the glory to God for everything because without God I am nothing and for that I am so thankful for God and all that he has created. Don’t miss out on tomorrow’s step!

Today is the third step which puts us deeper into abandonment as a country. The third step is rationalization. In Romans 1:22 “Professing to be wise, they became fools”. So first man has a revelation of truth through the creation of the world, then man not wanting to glorify God or be thankful to God for being the creator of everything rejects the truth of God only to move on to rationalization which means they turn to their own reasoning in their dark and foolish hearts and truly believes he is wise but becomes the biggest fool of all.

After taking the last three steps the fourth step leads to religion in Romans 1:23 “and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man-birds and four footed animals and creeping things.” Man out of his own emptiness makes a false religion substituting it for the truth of God. When you hear of a religious man that means he is a man that has abandoned God and in turn was abandoned by God. Religion is as far away from God as you can get. Man had the truth of the one true God but rejected Him only to become a foolish religious person. Why does man do all this, the answer is very simple because he loves sin too much.

The fifth and final step is reprobation. Reprobation is being given up by God or abandoned by God due to man’s rejection towards God. Romans 1:24-28  24“Therefore God gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves, 25 who exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the creator, who is blessed forever.Amen. 26 For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. 27 Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due. 28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them up to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient.” Did you notice how man was moved on to this final step of reprobation? In verses 24, 26 and 28 it clearly states that God gave them up, gave them up to their vile twisted passions. It comes to a point that when you continually reject God and His truth, He will give you a push in the direction you want to go. Let’s take a look at 2 Thessalonians 2:10-12 and see what happens after God gives you that push you wanted 10“and with all the unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 11 And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie, 12 that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.”  So after the push from God He then sends you strong delusions to make you believe a lie! That to me is just mind blowing stuff, why anyone would want to reject the truth of God and not live for Him is beyond me. Now as a country I strongly believe that we have been abandoned by God because we have taken God out of everything, rejecting the truth of God. So in doing so I believe that God has given our country a push in the direction we wanted to go. You can tell that just by taking a look at the overwhelming support for homosexuality in our world today.  God is strongly against it as so am I but our country embraces it like it’s not a big deal. The New Man

I want to talk to you today about our identity in Christ. We will be looking at Colossians 3:9-11, 9 Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds, 10 and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him, 11 where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcised nor uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave nor free, but Christ is all and in all.

Whenever you see a policeman, postman or a soldier what do you notice about them? They all wear a uniform; they all wear something that allows them to stand out from the crowd. What we wear is important, relative to what we are. If you will look in Colossians 3 that is exactly what Paul is trying to tell us. Now he is not telling us how to dress physically but how to dress spiritually. Since you’re a new man and a new creation in Christ, you need to dress like it. Here is another way to look at it, when you became a true Christian your old man died. Then as soon as your old man died you were born again, a new man. The new man does not want to put on the old mans cloths, he wants to wear the new wardrobe that Christ has given him. We are to live a new lifestyle.

When you read Colossians 3:9 did you notice the term “the old man” and then in verse 10 the term “the new man”? One might ask what is the old man and the new man. Do we still have the old man or are we the new man? Or are we a mix of both? When you give your life to Christ you cease to be an old man, you are now a new man. The so called normal things that you used to do and the people you used to associate with suddenly become abnormal to the new man. They just don’t fit in to your new lifestyle. So this section of Colossians is simply saying now that you are a new man you need to dress like one. You need to put on the clothes that match the life that is in you now. If you have the inward risen life there should be an outward apearence of it. All of us have seen a new man in their old clothes before, a Christian that has put on the old dirty rags of their former lifestyle. But we as Christians must understand that we can’t live that way anymore, the old life has been condemned. Our old man was crucified with Christ. Look at Romans 6:6, “6 knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin.”

Now what is it that we are supposed to wear now that we have thrown away the rags of the old life? We have to start with the identity of the believer in Colossians 3:9 to about mid way through verse 10 “9 since you have put off the old man with his deeds, 10 and have put on the new man”. That’s the first thing right there; Paul describes the supernatural transformation that takes place in a believer’s life as soon as he or she becomes saved. Just remember that there is a difference between the old man and the flesh that the new man is living in. the flesh quite frequently will try and lure you back into the old rags of your former life but don’t give into it. Be strong.

Now the second article of clothing which is the progress of the new man is found in verse 10, “10 and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him”. Okay, now that you know you’re a new creature your flesh will begin running around like mad trying to convince you to slip back into your old rags. You will have to begin conquering the flesh little by little and day by day. But as you start to conquer the flesh there is progression, the new man begins to grow and mature. Think of a baby when it is born you watch it grow and grow and grow. The same goes for the spiritual life, you were born again, a new life but there is to be progress of growing into the likeness of Christ. Look at Romans 8:28-29, “28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. 29 For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren.” You see it has been God’s plan from the beginning that we be transformed into the image of His Son Jesus Christ. There is a process of renewing of your mind going on in your life to bring you to full knowledge in Christ. The new man progresses to new knowledge and as you start to mature from the knowledge you gain, you will see a huge behavior change in yourself. Look at 2 Timothy 3:16 “All scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness”. In other words you reach spiritual knowledge by the word of God and from that good works will come. You will start to spiritualy act mature and your actions will show it to.

Now how do you apply all that to your daily life? Well when God reveals His truth to you, you need to apply it to your life. Devour it, apply it and move on to the next spiritual meal so that you will continue to grow. Just like when you were first born your meals were milk, and as you got older you began to eat foods that had more substance to them. You didn’t just stay with milk your entire life; you would not grow very well. You need to let the word of God be the fuel that drives you. Check out Ephesians 4:22-23, “22 that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, 23 and be renewed in the spirit of your mind”. So in other words don’t wear the old mans cloths but be renewed in the spirit of your mind. So the main point now is If you are wanting spiritual maturity to energize your life you must kill the old lifestyle and embrace the new life so that you can grow.

The first step was the position of the believer and the second step was the progress of the believer. Now we come to the third step of the first part of this study and that step is the partnership of the new man. Look at it in Colossians 3:11”where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcised nor uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave nor free, but Christ is all and in all”. There are no more barriers that separate us. We are all one family together in Christ. Anyone who is a true believer in Christ is ether your brother or sister. We are all equal in the eyes of Christ. There is no division between race, sex, age, height, weight and any other thing you can think of. Did you see how Paul ended verse 11 there, “but Christ is all and in all”. We have no other choice but to love one another, no matter what our differences are just as Christ loves us because we are all in Him.

Renew Your Mind

Do you struggle daily with personal sins? Have you ever wondered how to overcome your personal sins and be able to live the risen life? You must first understand that there are parts of your old life that are going to try to hang on. You have to make a continuing daily practice of bearing your cross and slaying the parts of your old life. You must eliminate every aspect of your life that is against God. Romans 8:13 I think says it quite well “For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.” You must kill the sinful deeds of the old man to be able to live a risen life. When you are saved your spirit is made holy and the only thing left that Satan can use is your mortal body. Romans 6:11-14 11 Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord. 12 Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts. 13 And do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God. 14 For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace. DO NOT render your body as an instrument for sin but render it as an instrument for righteousness unto God. So it really boils down to one thing and that is those parts of my body which tend to sin, I must prevent them from sinning and redirect my members for working righteously through Christ. This is the main text that I want to focus on look at Colossians 3:5-9   5 Therefore put to death your members which are on earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. 6 Because of these things the wrath of God is coming upon the sons of disobedience, 7 in which you yourselves once walked when you lived in them. 8 But now you yourselves are to put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth. 9 Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds,” Look at verse 5,Paul is saying to put to death or kill the sinful acts that your members partake in because he wants us to understand that it is our bodily members that get us into trouble. Let’s look at verse 5 and 8, these are the most troublesome sins verse 5 talks about unholy kinds of love and verse 8 talks about wicked kinds of hate. Notice in verse 5, Paul lists these sins backwards from the actual sin itself to the motive. Fornication meaning sexual sin, fornication happens because of uncleanness, uncleanness meaning an unholy affection, uncleanness coming from a perverted passionate heart and an evil desire and that all comes from the core of a man’s being which is covetousness and covetous is man wanting what he wants and not what God wants and that is idolatry. When you say “I want what I want” you are no longer worshiping God you are worshiping yourself and that is idolatry plain and simple. How do you stop this? Well you have to control your thoughts. If you control your thoughts you control your body! It is your mind that controls your behavior, sinful thoughts produce sinful deeds and righteous thoughts produce righteous deeds. That is why Philippians 4:8 says “ Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there anything praiseworthy –meditate on these things.” To help train your mind you must read Gods word, study it, just like Colossians 3:16 say’s “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly…” The bible is the most influential thing there is, you just have to read it and study it. Once you start getting closer to God you will find that the way you kill your covetousness is with contentedness. You become content with what you have and what God has given you.  You have to realize there is nothing you can do in and of yourself to control your mind. You must train your mind to think on the Kingdom of Heaven, think on the word of God and about our Lord Jesus and before you know it even your involuntary thoughts will be pure. Now before we get to the second list of sins Paul gives us reasons why we should want to kill our old sinful man, so look in Colossians 3:6 to see the first reason and it is "Because of these things the wrath of God is coming upon the sons of disobedience". The way God will react to those sins in verse 5 is He will pour judgment out upon you. Now look at Colossians 3:7 to see the second reason “in which you yourselves once walked when you lived in them.” Right there that’s the way you used to live, that was your old sinful man’s way of living. Why as a Christian should you want to do these kinds of things because these sins are the reason people are damned not blessed.  If you still allow yourself to chase the thing that you want in spite of God and you give way to covetousness you better get ready for the consequences. Hebrews 12:6 “For whom the Lord loves He chastens, And scourges every son whom He receives.” Here is another one Proverbs 3:12 “For whom the Lord loves He corrects, Just as a father the son in whom he delights.” God reacts against sin; He always has and always will. Look at the life of King David and his personal sins, the man had a broken heart the rest of his life. Every one of his children went bad and broke his heart, his own son tried to steal his throne and kill him. You have been delivered from sin, so don’t mess with it. Now for the second list of sins in Colossians 3:8-9 8 “But now you yourselves are to put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth. 9 Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds,” Paul says these are thing that have to go, he says put them off and the words “put off” is referred to like clothing. Like at the end of the day when you take off dirty clothing, so you should discard the rags of your old life. Imagine an unbeliever is like a beggar clothed only in rags and he becomes a believer and gets a beautiful white robe but then he goes back out and puts his rags on over his white robe. It just doesn’t make since that anyone would do that but a lot of the time that is what we as Christians do. And Paul says don’t do that, throw off those filthy rags. Look at the list of sins, Paul starts with anger, like a smoldering anger that all it needs is for someone to fan it. Have you ever said “any time I think of that it makes me so angry”? Don’t hold anger in, it’s not good at all. When someone does what is wrong or you don’t like you need to call it out. I’m not saying to fly off the handle at someone but to call it out so that it is out in the open and that there is no need to bottle it up. Now when you bottle up anger it gives way to wrath. Wrath is a raging short lived act, like setting fire to a pile of straw, it rages for a little bit then it goes back to smoldering. Then when a smoldering thing leads to a flaming thing it leads to malice, and out of the mouth it comes blasphemy, foul language and lies. Paul is saying there is a smoldering anger deep within every man and we must get rid of it. Have you ever called someone a name or made fun of someone? Driving down the road in road rage or to someone’s face, we have all done it in one form or another. But any time you slander a man you slander God and that’s a form of blasphemy because God made us in His own image. Look at James 3:9 this verse is talking about the tongue “With it we bless our God and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the similitude of God.”  Just think of it this way when we slander a man we blaspheme God. Learn to love everyone no matter what the cost.  Only say what is gracious or don’t say anything at all, and do not lie because Satan is the father of lies. Live a Christ filled life and die to yourself and chase only the things which are holy.      

Give Your Life To Jesus

First you must understand why Jesus died for our sins.(I Corinthians 15:3-4) (Romans 5:6-8) (II Corinthians 5:14-15)Jesus came to earth to die for our sins on the cross thenthree days later rose from the dead so that we could have eternal life.(John 3:14-17)He suffered, died and paid for everyone of our sinson the cross. (Matthew 27:32-56) (John 19:17-24)Now that you understand that, the next step is admittingyou’re a sinner. (Romans 3:23) (Romans 6:23)(Ephesians 2:8-9)Now that you know you’re a sinner and that you are undeserving of God’s gift of eternal life. You must repent of your sins. Turn to God and away from your sins. (Luke 13:3-5) Next you must believe in your heart that Jesus died for our sins on the cross and was buried then on the third day he rose from the dead. (John 20:1-10) (Matthew 28:1-8) Now that you can admit you’re a sinner and you believe that Jesus died for our sins on the cross and rose from the dead The last thing you need to do is confess all this with your mouth. (Romans 10:8-13) If you want to truly be saved by the blood of Jesus, you need to say a prayer something like this: “Dear Heavenly Father I come to you recognizing that I am a sinner undeserving of your Son Jesus Christ, Lord I believe that you died for my sins and rose again on the third day, I now ask you to come into my heart and save me from my sin and cleans me of all my unrighteousness come into my life and become my King so that I can live for you and do your will. Thank you Lord for coming into my heart and saving me I love you Jesus, in Jesus name Amen.” Congratulations! You are now a born again Christian a true child of God! Your adventure with God has now started! It’s going to be wild! If you are not a member of a true bible believing church find one. Keep yourself immersed in the word of God and let the Holy Spirit guide your heart and mind and see what he has in store for your life!
